TREATMENT
ROOM
Our four practice sisters run clinics at a variety of times
during the week. They provide a wide range of services, including blood tests,
blood pressure checks, dressings, cervical smears, ear syringing and immunisations.
Please contact reception for details of clinic times.
CERVICAL
SMEARS
We recommend that all women aged 25 to 49 attend (by invitation) for a smear test every three years. Women aged 50 to 64 should attend every five years. Under certain circumstances your doctor may suggest you should have a cervical smear more often.
MINOR
SURGERY
Minor surgery is also done
in the treatment room by arrangement with any of the doctors. Dr Garside
does a cryosurgery clinic once a month for the treatment of warts.
Please consult your own doctor first to see if your wart is suitable
for this treatment.
HEALTH
PROMOTION
There are often ways in which you
can improve your health. The sisters/healthcare assistant can advise on factors
which may be a risk to your health and what you can do to reduce that risk. They
can also advise on healthy eating, exercise, stress management and giving up smoking.
ASTHMA CLINIC
Our practice nurses have
appointments at various times through the week.
CARDIAC CLINIC
A cardiac clinic is held once a month with a doctor and sister to which you will be invited if appropriate.
DIABETIC
CLINIC
Diabetic clinics are held frequently. If you are diabetic you
will automatically receive an invitation to attend. At the clinic
you will have the opportunity to see the dietician and the chiropodist,
as well as sister and one of the doctors.
RESPIRATORY CLINIC
A respiratory clinic is held on Thursday afternoons.
Please enquire at reception
about any of these clinics.
IMMUNISATIONS
Childhood immunisations
are done at our CHILD HEALTH SURVEILLANCE CLINIC on a Thursday afternoon.
At this clinic a doctor and a health visitor are also available for
routine developmental checks. Please bring along your child's red
book with you to each appointment. Your children should be sent appointment
reminders automatically, but if you feel they may have been missed
out do not hesitate to tell us.
It is important to register
a new baby at the surgery as early as possible. To do this please
sign and bring in the pink form which you are given when you register
the birth.
Immunisations are also
given for FOREIGN TRAVEL.
FLU VACCINATION is recommended
for patients with asthma, respiratory heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, those with
suppressed immunity due to drug treatment or disease or splenectomy,
and those living in residential homes as well as all patients 65 or
over. Please contact the surgery from mid-September to book an appointment
for one of the clinics, which are held in October.
FAMILY
PLANNING
We offer a full range of
family planning services, including IUCD (coil) and cap fittings.
Our family planning sister holds a clinic every Monday afternoon 1.45
to 6.00pm, or you may prefer to see one of the doctors.
MATERNITY
SERVICES
Maternity services are provided. Antenatal appointments can be made in the routine surgery appointments. Our midwife holds clinics on Thursday morning and afternoon and can also advise you about parentcraft classes.
DIETICIAN
The dietician holds clinics
throughout the year.
NON-NHS
SERVICES
Certain medical examinations
and forms, such as insurance medicals,
claim forms etc are not covered by the NHS and are therefore liable
to a fee. This practice follows the British Medical Association's
guidelines for these fees and the receptionists can advise you of
the current rates.
